Crisp autumn air, colorful changing leaves, pumpkin flavored everything… ah, I love the fall vibes.
After the bustle and adventure of summer, who doesn’t love a reminder to slow down, cozy up and savor the simple goodness of harvest season.
This time of year always readies my heart to experience hygge and get all the cozy fall vibes front and center.
What is Hygge?
Hygge (pronounced hoo-guh) is the Danish and Norwegian word to express the mood of coziness, comfort, warmth and enjoyment. In Denmark and Norway- the winter months have little to no daylight, leaving room for gloom to hover over the day-to-day life. To combat the gloom and darkness, hygge has embedded itself into the culture to bring warmth and comfort during the darker seasons. It teaches us to enjoy life for its simple pleasures, among so much more.

Why should I focus on fall hygge vibes?
When the seasons change and days get shorter, it can take a toll on our mood and lust for life. By bringing attention to the simple pleasures and warm, coziness of fall hygge we can cultivate more joy, relaxation, and enjoyment in our lives. All of which are important for feeling fulfilled and aligned with our purpose.
Not only that but many of these fall hygge ideas are wonderful ways to practice self-care.

How to Bring Fall Hygge Vibes Into Your Life
Candle Light & Fires
Nothing beats the warm, inviting glow of candles. Lighting your favorite ones and sitting by the fireplace (or fire pit!) are the perfect way to experience that fall hygge energy. My favorite candles to light around the house (fall or not!) are beeswax candles. Theres something magical, organic and comforting about burning a candle made from beeswax… it surely fits the bill for fall coziness.
You can find beeswax candles online at Mountain Rose Herbs.
I also love this fall themed soy candle from etsy! Scented with essentials oils so you don’t have to worry about the headache from chemicals, and topped with herbs and crystals.
Cacao Ritual
One of my favorite ways to turn up the bliss, comfort and inspiration is through a simple cacao ritual. You can turn it into a full on cacao ceremony, or just simply prepare and enjoy it in a mindful way. Cacao is packed with anandamide (the “bliss molecule”) and theobromine (aka “Food of the Gods,” improves mood and cognitive function)- both of which leave you feeling warm and fuzzy.
My favorite place to get cacao from is Soul Lift. They source from indigenous women collectives in Guatemala and practice ethical direct trade. You can check out all my favorites in this Best Ceremonial Grade Cacao post. Don’t forget to use code BLOOM for a discount.
Mulled Wine
Speaking of warm, cozy drinks… have you ever had mulled wine? If not, you’re in for a treat! This European winter beverage is the epitome of warm, cozy vibes. A warm blend of red wine, orange, mulling spices (a varying blend of cinnamon, star anise, ginger, nutmeg, cardamom) honey and brandy. Served warm and plentiful.
I usually save this for closer to Christmas, but its a wonderful treat on a cool autumn day as well.
Bake
IDK about you but fall is probably my favorite time of year for baked goods. Pumpkin scones, pumpkin chocolate chip cookies, apple cinnamon muffins… I want all of it! Baking is a wonderful way to tap into that hygge energy and bring all the fall vibes into your life. It reminds us to slow down, get creative with what we have, and savor the simple things in life.
Twinkle Lights
Hygge is all about enjoying a cozy, warm and comforting environment. No better way to create that than by lighting the place up with glowing twinkle lights. They have a magical way of making a space feel relaxing and inviting. Bonus if you have some cute leaf or pumpkin shaped ones! Create the perfect fall hygge vibes by getting the lighting right. Keep it warm, glowy and relaxing.
Gratitude Practice
Practicing gratitude can quickly raise your vibration and allow you to experience some lightness and joy… perfect for tapping into those fall hygge vibes. If you’re looking for a quick-start to inspire your gratitude practice, Bloom and Manifest has a download & print Gratitude Journal Workbook, full of easy to use prompts to inspire and ignite you to get started. Check it out here, Gratitude Journal. Making this a daily practice during the fall season is a wonderful way to wrap up the year and start the next one on the right foot.

Go on a Fall Adventure
Who doesn’t love a good day trip to go apple picking or pumpkin patch-ing? Take a day to just enjoy the fall vibes, out and about somewhere local. Soak in all the details and little things like the colors, scents and most importantly, tastes! You know pumpkin patches have the best caramel apples. Experience hygge by being fully present and truly enjoying the vibrancy of the season.

Decorate Your Home and Porch
One of my favorite ways to celebrate fall and create comforting, enjoyable energy is through decorating. Spend some time arranging the porch or putting up a few decorations indoors. Bring out all the warm colors, soft textures and inviting scents. You don’t have to go shopping and spend a ton of money on new fall decor, you can keep it simple and homemade. Either way, be intentional and choose decorations that make you feel warm and comforted.
Embrace the Fall Scents

Speaking of scents, its time to get that diffuser going! Essential oils are a great way to bring the scent element into your home without having to worry about toxic chemicals (often found in commercial candles, air fresheners and sprays). Diffusing essential oils is a great way to make the vibes in your home feel welcoming, comfortable and relaxing.
My favorite diffusing blends for fall are:
Spiced Cider: Cinnamon, Clove, Orange, Ginger
Autumn Fir: Basalm Fir, Lemon, Clove, Orange
Cinnamon Spice: Orange, Cinnamon, Clove
Spiced Chai: Cardamom, Clove, Ginger
Pumpkin Pie: Cinnamon, Nutmeg, Clove
Fall Hike: Cypress, Fir, Sandalwood
Holiday Cookie: Vanilla, Cinnamon, Orange, Nutmeg
To make the blends above you’ll need: Cinnamon, Clove, Orange, Ginger, Nutmeg, Cypress, Fir, Sandalwood, Cardamom, Vanilla
Spiced Apple Cider
Another seasonal, warm drink sure to get you feeling all the autumn hygge. You can get a pre-made spiced apple cider, or make your own with the mulling spices you got for the mulled wine above! A good spiced cider has: apple cider (not juice!), cinnamon, ginger, clove, orange peel or slices, brown sugar or honey. They key is to drink it intentionally and slowly enjoy it as you reflect upon the changing seasons and cycles of nature.
Snuggle Up With a Book
Hygge is about enjoying the simple, comfortable moments. Snuggling up with a good book is the perfect way to create that energy. Light a candle, make a warm beverage, hit the twinkle lights and just be present with your book. One of my favorite books to read in the fall is The Witch of Portobello by Paolo Coehlo.
Soft Materials
Bring out the soft textures and materials. Fuzzy blankets, pillows and loungewear are sure to get the vibe right. Hygge is about feeling comfortable and well so that you can truly enjoy the moment.
Hang a Cinnamon Broom
Not only do they make your house smell amazing, but they help ward off negative energy and offer spiritual protection for your space. Plus, they double as cute fall decor. I can usually find one at Trader Joes in the fall, but theres tons of good options on etsy. I’ve linked a few of my favorites below.
Dressed Harvest Cinnamon Broom
Make a Crystal Grid
A crystal grid is simply an arrangement of crystals into a sacred shape- I usually do some sort of circle or spiral. The point is to choose energetically aligned crystals that serve a specific purpose, in this case- connecting us to fall vibes and the comfort and warmth of hygge. You can arrange your crystal grid in the center of your living space, or in a sacred space to be left through out the fall season. New Moon Beginnings on Etsy has a wide selection of tumbled stones and crystal points that are great to use for grids.
Some of my favorite crystals to use for fall crystal grids are:
Obsidian
Amethyst
I hope you got some inspiration to bring the fall hygge vibes to life this year! Whats your favorite way to get in the comfy, cozy spirit?
