Most likely- you’ve heard about the Law of Attraction… she seems to get all the glory these days! Not undeservingly though, the law of attraction is one of many laws of the universe that can help us to shift our reality.
As a spiritual life coach who helps clients overcome limiting beliefs and manifest the lives they want- these universal laws are frameworks I often lean on to empower and ignite the magic of transformation in others.
Having an awareness of the laws of the universe makes a huge difference in your ability to experience major breakthroughs in a fairly short amount of time.
To really shift your reality though, you have to come from a place of grounding, self-love and alignment with your soul’s purpose.
Simple enough, right?
Not always, I know.
But being open to learning new things, being fluid with your belief system, and getting clear on your purpose can be a massive help…
That’s where the laws of the universe come in.
You can use these as life-hacks or guidelines for living a purposeful, soul-aligned life. When you understand and embody these laws you’ll be able to shift your reality much quicker.
Lets dive in!
How do I use the laws of the universe in my life?
These universal laws can be used to make sense of life and navigate it in a way that works out in your best interest.
By reading and learning about these, you can decide which ones seem most important right now and work on applying them.
It begins with that awareness.
From there you can practice embodiment- internalize these concepts and make them a part of the schema through which you view the world.
In other words, use these laws of the universe as a “handbook” for when things feel off-track… (ahem, like now, maybe).
Study these laws and take it upon yourself to do more research on the ones that call to you… I find that when you follow the thread they tend to incorporate themselves into your life.
How do I interact with people who don’t apply or honor these laws within their own lives?
Simply put, lead by example. Share the wisdom when appropriate. But most importantly, lead by example. We can’t force others to see things how we see them and we can’t change anyone who doesn’t want to change themselves.
If they interrupt your ability to live in alignment with what you feel is truth, set boundaries and protect your energy.

Remember, you came here to enjoy life and fulfill your purpose. Not be concerned with people who don’t wanna wake up.
And besides, if you follow and trust in these laws of the universe- its likely you’ll end up attracting like-minded people into your life. Yay!
How does the universe work and why does it have laws?
The universe is made up of energy- every being, every thing, every thought and every emotion has its own frequency it vibrates to. You will see below that through these laws- everything remains in balance.
It is all connected and interrelated.
These laws do not exist as a form of legal regulation, like we may associate when we think of the modern usage of the word “law.” Rather, they are more like principles or ancient truths.
Laws in this context are the process in which things come into existence.
As Deepak Chopra says, “Law is the process by which the unmanifest becomes manifest.”

Laws of the Universe
The Law of Pure Potentiality
In the beginning, there was neither existence or non-existence, all this world was unmanifest energy… The One breathed, without breath, by its own power. -Hymn of Creation, The Rig Veda
What this Law States: we are pure consciousness and pure potential, existing in a universe where anything is possible and possibilities are endless. It states that you are pure consciousness, ripe with infinite creativity and possibility.
How to Apply: in order to apply the law of pure potentiality, all you have to do is become aware of possibility and the endless potential that you hold. By connecting to nature, spending time in silence, and meditating you can tune into the realm of possibility.
Use this law to open your mind up to what is possible for you. We exist in a realm that overflows with potential. You can tap into, harness and direct that potential to create what you desire in life.
The Law of Least Effort
Nature’s intelligence functions with effortless ease… with carefreeness, harmony, and love. And when we harness the forces of harmony, joy, and love, we create success and good fortune with effortless ease. -Deepak Chopra
What This Law States: the true essence of nature functions with effortless ease. In other words, nature takes the path of least resistance. This law reminds us that harmony and flow are our natural state, as found within nature.
How to Apply: allow things to be easy for yourself. Oftentimes we overcomplicate things in life and “get in our head.” Consider how you can do things with more ease and less resistance. Pay attention to what feels most natural and enjoyable to you. Simplify, flow, trust.
The Law of Giving
The universe operates through dynamic exchange… in our willingness to give that which we seek, we keep the abundance of the universe circulating in our lives. -Deepak Chopra
What This Law States: we are in constant exchange with the universe, always interacting through giving and receiving. Things must circulate and need to remain in the flow of give and receive.
How to Apply:
This law teaches us to live in balance and is one of the secrets to creating abundance. What we give, comes back to us. Therefore the more we give and be of service, the more we will recieve. If there is something you are deeply wanting, try giving more of that thing.
Remember the quote “you get what you give.” If you want joy, bring joy to others. If you want money, help others get money. Silently bless other people and watch the universe bless you right back.
The Law of Karma
How people treat you is their karma, how you react is yours. -Wayne Dyer
What This Law States: karma is the idea of cause and effect, action and consequence. Everything we do will come back to us in similar ways.
“You reap what you sow” is a good saying that reminds us of this.
How to Apply:
Remembering that “you get what you give” and “you reap what you sow” will help you to apply the law of karma. The better choices you make, the better the return. Be mindful of how you treat others and how you react to things in life. This will help you to make better decisions and remain in good karma.
The Law of Intention and Desire
By banishing doubt and trusting your intuitive feelings, you clear a space for the power of intention to flow through. -Wayne Dyer
What This Law States: Intention is the power behind desire. When you accept the power of intention, you can create anything you desire. That being said, everything comes with a cost.
Yes, you can work hard and create literally anything you want in life. However, if you are not living in accordance with the laws of the universe, you may face burn out, feel unfulfilled or turn up with health issues, among other things.
When you connect to your intentions, you can decipher if you are making choices that are aligned with your true self. This is the law of intention and desire.
How to Apply:
Stay connected to your true self by making time for silence and meditation. Connect with your intentions when pursuing anything and allow yourself to carry on in a way that does not disrupt your flow and connection to the universe.
To best use the law of intention and desire- practice non-attachment to any outcome. Be in the energy of pure enjoyment regardless of what happens. Surrender to the universe and trust that all things will work out for good. Don’t stress about the details or the “how” just keep moving and remain in the energy of trust. When your intentions are good, the outcome will be good.
The Law of Detachment
Detachment is not that you should own nothing. But that nothing should own you. -Ali Ibn Abi Talib
What This Law States:
In order to acquire the things we want in life, you must release your attachment to it. You have to really surrender your grip on the outcome if you want it to become your reality. This goes for just about anything- be ok with not knowing what the outcome will be and open yourself up to the possibility of things turning out differently than you imagined.
How to Apply:
Do not grip or fixate on the things you are manifesting. The more you force and attach to your desires, the more you will repel them.
Remember, let it be easy. Trust in the best outcome. Do not stay in the energy of force or “this MUST happen THIS way.” Rather, stay in the energy of “I allow this to happen to me. I welcome and receive good things in my life.”
The Law of Dharma or Purpose in Life
Seek the wisdom that will untie your knot. Seek the path that demands your whole being. -Rumi
What This Law States: We all came here to fulfill a purpose. We are divinity manifested into human form so that we can do so. Everyone has a purpose. Everyone has a unique talent and way of expressing it. When you’ve discovered this purpose and use it to serve humanity, abundance will flow to you.
How to Apply: First you must discover your “true self.” From there you can connect to what your unique talent is- the one thing that you can do better than anybody else in your own special way. With this realization, you can serve humanity with that gift and unlock the abundance that belongs to you.
The Law of Mentalism
The all is mind, the universe is mental. -The Kybalion
What This Law States: this law shares that everything in existence is created through the mind. Everything we see and experience originates in the mental realm- through thoughts and conscious awareness.
You know the saying, “Your thoughts become your reality?” This is where it came from.
How to Apply: The best way to apply this law is to use our mind intentionally with clear concentration. Observe your thoughts and be very clear about what you want in life. If you notice thoughts that are negative or do not align with the life you want- switch them out for positive ones!
Apply your will power on your mental state. Choose thoughts carefully as they will ripple into your reality as manifestations.
The Law of Correspondence
“As above, so below. As within, so without.”
What This Law States: everything is connected. All people, all things, all beings- connected. All dimensions throughout the universe- connected.
How to Apply: Remember that you are one with all that is. There is no such thing as separation. You can reason with different dimensions and the world around you because of this connection. By accepting that you are not separate from anything that exists, you can get a better sense of how to work with the world around you.
The Law of Vibration
Nothing rests; everything moves; everything vibrates. -The Kybalion
What This Law States: Everything in the universe moves and everything is in motion at its unique vibration. Love is the highest vibration, hate is the lowest. The higher your vibration, the more bliss and alignment you will experience.
How to Apply: be mindful of your vibration and the vibrations that surround you. When experiencing or exposed to “lower” vibrations, you can shift them to higher vibrations if you choose. My post How to Raise Your Vibration is a great place to look if you want to learn more about elevating your vibration.
The Law of Polarity
We cannot experience sadness without an idea of happiness. Light cannot be experienced if we do not know what darkness is. To feel successful, we must have a sense of what failure is. -Unknown
What This Law States: there are two sides to everything in life. Good and evil, black and white, love and hate, hot and cold, hard and soft, sharp and dull- everything in life has an opposite. That opposite is simply a varying degree of the same thing. Understanding that opposites exist mentally gives us the ability to alchemize (or transform) anything.
How to Apply: when you don’t like something or are having a “negative” experience, contemplate what its opposite is. By focusing on the polar opposite of anything, we can transform our experience and move closer to what we desire.
The Law of Rhythm
What This Law States: patterns and rhythms are a part of life. Each phase, each season, each wave of rhythm all have a grander purpose and function as part of the whole.
How to Apply: trust in every wave that you experience. There is a reason for each phase and know that nothing is permanent. Try to see the lesson in each wave of rhythm and see your way through.
Principle of Gender
What This Law States: there is a presence of masculine and feminine energy within all of us. To feel a sense of balance in life we must learn how to balance the masculine and feminine energy within.
How to Apply: an awareness of each energy type helps you identify when you are operating from the masculine or the feminine. To point here is to balance both within your life. Recognize when you need to operate more from the masculine or more from the feminine.
Feminine energy: flow, being, receiving
Masculine energy: doing, taking action
The Law of Divine Oneness
The heart of the matter is always our oneness with divine spirit, our union with all life. -Thich Nhat Hanh
What This Law States: we are all part of the collective consciousness, all connected to the same source and operate within a web of interconnected energy. We are one. What you do affects the entire collective.
How to Apply: try to view everyone and everything as an expression of source. As we are all connected, we all have something to offer each other. Try to see others for their gifts and recognize that they are needed as part of the whole.
The Law of Attraction
What This Law States: the state of your vibration attracts experiences and people of like-vibration.
How to Apply: to attract the experiences you want- try to vibrate at the same level as them. Envision feeling exactly how you would feel as if you already had “it.” If you want love, joy, ease- know that the higher your vibration the more effortlessly these will flow to you.
The Law of Inspired Action
Action that comes from the feeling of inspiration is action that will produce good results, for you are allowing the laws of attraction of the universe to carry you. -Esther Hicks
What This Law States: when you act from a place of inspiration and high vibrations, you will experience the greatest return.
How to Apply: try to make everything a “vibe.” Even tasks that are mundane or hard- approach them from a place of inspiration and high vibrations so that you can continue to experience the greatest returns on your actions.
“If you want to find the secrets of the universe, think in terms of energy, frequency and vibration.” -Nikola Tesla
