“Now that your eyes are open, make the sun jealous with your burning passion to start the day. Make the sun jealous or stay in bed.”
–Malak El Halabi
A deep breath in, long sigh out. I stretch my arms above my head and internally give thanks for another day.
“I’m so grateful for this beautiful morning and a beautiful night of rest.”
I get out of bed, brush my teeth, maybe oil pull with coconut oil as I make my way to start the coffee.
I head back to my room and say good morning to my partner and our dogs.
Immediately- plugging into the frequency of love.
Thoughts of dread, worry, or stress DO try to make their way in and interrupt my morning. But my morning rituals help keep them at bay.
Morning is such a sacred, powerful time.
The way we start our day and the morning rituals we practice have a huge impact on our spiritual well-being and quality of life.
That first hour upon waking sets the tone for our day. And our days become our weeks, weeks become our months, months become our years- you get the point.
Morning is such a sacred, powerful time.
I talk about the potency of the New Moon each month and what a great time that is to manifest and begin anew.
We talk about the rebirth and renewal that occurs in spring and how we can start fresh after winter leaves.
I try to apply that same energy of renewal into each sacred morning.
Of course, there are days when we wake up late, frazzled, in a rush, stressed, dreadful, exhausted, etc. etc. The list goes on.
And that’s part of being a human in modern society- this isn’t exactly a utopia.
But through ritual (and the “little things”) we can begin to cultivate more abundance, more joy, more inspiration, more creativity, more gratefulness, more ease and more peace daily.
It starts the second we wake up.
And it’s a lot easier than we think. It’s the little things. It’s the way we talk to ourselves, the way we practice gratitude, the way we infuse intention and conscious energy into the things we decide to do when we wake up.
This guide goes over some of my favorite morning rituals that will give you inspiration for how to start the day off right.
Lets tap into the power of a mindful morning!
Morning Rituals for Spiritual Well-Being
Start With Gratitude
From the moment you open your eyes- starting with thoughts of gratitude will change your life.
It takes some commitment and consistency to reprogram our mind to choose grateful thoughts instead of fearful or lacking ones.
And in the beginning- this morning ritual will require conscious effort.
If you’re used to waking up and instantly fretting about all the things you have to do that day or all the stressors in your life- you’ll have to “do the work” and swap those thoughts out with ones that show gratitude.
But eventually, it becomes your nature. If you choose to allow that for yourself.
Some examples of gratitude expressions you can start the day off with are:
- Thank you/I’m so thankful for this beautiful morning
- Thank you/I’m so thankful for a wonderful night of rest
- Thank you/I’m so thankful for the cup of coffee I’m about to drink (if you didn’t get a wonderful night of rest)
- What a beautiful morning
- Thank you/I’m so thankful for the quiet and peace that exist at this hour
- Thank you/I’m so thankful that I have a job to attend today
- Thank you/I’m so thankful for the creativity that flows through me
- Thank you/I’m so thankful for my pets
- Thank you/I’m so thankful for the abundance in my life
And my personal favorite and most universally applicable-
Thank you/I’m so thankful for the opportunity to begin anew today.
Saying these gratefulness affirmations in your head, aloud, or in a journal helps lift your vibration higher and calls in expansive energy that will serve as a reminder to choose gratitude throughout your day.

Step Into Your Power and Manifest the Day You Want
This part is mindset work.
Just like I mentioned above about reprogramming our mind to think thoughts of gratitude- same concept applies here.
Each morning- make it a part of your ritual to step into your power and manifest the day you want.
What does it mean to step into your power?
I could write an entire post on that (and will in the coming months) but for now stepping into your power means owning and affirming that you have the right and the ability to create any kind of life you want.
Does this mean there will never be challenges beyond your control? NO.
There will ALWAYS be challenges beyond your control. But as you awaken, expand and empower yourself you will learn how to overcome those with ease.
You will know that you have everything you need to find your way and get into alignment with the best version of yourself and best version of your life.
You have to step into your power to be able to manifest consciously.
I’ll share more on this “stepping into your power” stuff.

Morning Pages
This powerful morning ritual is something I learned from the book The Artist’s Way by Julia Cameron.
Essentially what you do is open up your journal and write anything and everything that wants to come out. (The book recommends 3 pages but I rarely find that necessary)
The idea is that you get everything off your chest so that it has a space to be released and you can carry on about your day with a little less mental, emotional and spiritual weight.
Make a List
If you wake up feeling overwhelmed by all the things you need to do and this distracts you from having a peaceful morning- make a list.
Similar to the morning pages- making a list of all the things you want/need to get done for the day can help to clear your mind.
Let your to-do list live on paper, not taking up all the space in your mind.
I write my list in my Magic of I Astrological Planner. It has plenty of space for all my tasks and keeps me up-to-date with the current astrology and moon cycles.
Also important to note, don’t be so hard on yourself when you approach the end of your day and see that you weren’t able to complete your to-so list.
You can always carry those items over and give it another shot tomorrow.
Pull an Oracle Card
One of my favorite morning rituals is pulling an oracle card (or several)!
Not only is this a great way to connect to your intuition- it can provide guidance and messages that you need to hear in that moment.
Depending on the day, sometimes I pull a card with the intention of receiving a “general message” for the day, and sometimes I ask a specific question.
Doing this regularly will help you practice using your intuition and strengthen your ability to decipher the messages that come through for you.
A few of my favorite decks are:
- Keepers of the Light by Kyle Gray
- Work Your Light Oracle by Rebecca Campbell
- Rumi Oracle by Alana Fairchild
- Tarot Deck Awakening Edition (if you prefer or are interested in tarot- this is a great place to start)
- Inner Compass Deck
Light a Candle
Something I look forward to every morning is the time that I set aside to light my beeswax candle, drink my coffee, meditate and write.
This time is so sacred to me and creates the space for inspiration and creativity to flow through.
I’ve said it before but there really is something magical about beeswax candles and something even more magical about starting the day with this ritual.
They smell like honey, purify the air and connect us to the frequency of the divine feminine.
They burn slow and inspire you to be present and focused on the day you want to create.

Enjoy a Sip of Chaga Mushroom Elixir
Chaga is one of my essentials for spiritual well-being (and overall health). It enhances mental clarity, helps to decalcify the pineal gland so your third eye can function properly, boosts your immune system, lowers inflammation, clarifies and glows up your skin… I could go on and on. Its a superfood for a reason!
And the spiritual benefits are unparalleled.
Make sure its wild harvested- the best form of chaga you can get.
Black Magic Alchemy has an AMAZING elixir that literally tastes like root beer… I can take a tablespoon of it straight gladly without any cringing faces. It has a few other herbs and adaptogens in it as well, making it a supercharged way to enjoy your daily dose of chaga.

Stir Affirmations into Your Coffee or Tea
I made a short reel showing how I do this- but its simple.
As you go to stir your coffee or tea- repeat affirmations and imagine “stirring them” into the drink.
Reflect on them as you enjoy your morning beverage.

Morning Meditation
Even 10 minutes a day of meditating can make a huge impact on your spiritual well-being and your life.
Meditation is the simplest form of ritual. It requires only your presence and your breath.
You can use that time to tune into your own energy. Become an observer and try not to judge anything you sense within, including thoughts.
Work on just noticing what comes up. No labeling, no analyzing, no judging. Just noticing.
You can also use your time in meditation to do light visualizations, ground your energy, or connect to your higher self.
Ground Yourself
Speaking of grounding your energy- this is an essential morning ritual. Especially if you’re an empath or intuitive person.
I have an entire guide on this here– give it a read after this one if you haven’t already and if you need some guidance on grounding your energy.
Essentially- grounding is the practice that allows us to connect with the present moment. Its the action of taking the energy that comes in through our crown chakra and bringing it all the way down to our root chakra. From there we can move our energy downward (through energetic roots or a grounding chord) all way until it connects with the center of the earth. Connecting with the earth allows us to bring all of our dreams and visions into our present reality.

Protect Your Energy
Similar to grounding, protecting your energy is another essential practice to incorporate into your morning ritual or meditation.
This guide goes into all the details. Making sure you feel energetically secure and supported is a key part of moving through your day with ease.
Learning how to asses your energy and utilize protection techniques when needed will make a huge difference if you’re a sensitive person.
Stretching as a Morning Ritual
A short yoga sequence like some sun salutations or even just some organic body stretches are a great activity to include every morning. Stretching increases blood flow, connects us to our body, and moves stagnant energy out. Even if you only have time for a few minutes, stretching can be made into a peaceful and powerful morning ritual.
Any moments when you’re able to connect and be IN your body (and out of your head) will encourage a stronger sense of spiritual well-being.
Stay off Social Media
This one can be a challenge but makes such a huge difference in the quality of your day. If you wake up and immediately plug into social networks- you may spend the rest of your day trying to get that energy back.
In other words- you could be draining your energy from the moment you wake up and tap on that app. It can take a lot of work to get it back.
Plug into your own energy first. Get grounded and centered within yourself before allowing all the noise from social media flood your system.
Social media has so many wonderful benefits– but it has its downfalls too. Comparison, over-stimulation, etc. It doesn’t always support our spiritual wellbeing and for that reason avoiding it is a part of my morning ritual.
Experiment with the time and how long you can stay off of it, then take note of how you feel throughout the day. I’m sure you will notice a huge difference.
I try to stay off of social media for at least 30 minutes after waking up, an hour or two preferably.
Do Something Creative
I used to consider myself someone who only gets inspired in the evening. I used to stay up late working on projects and tapping into my creativity. I still do sometimes- but I’ve also discovered the magic of tapping into my creativity earlier in the day.
Creativity looks different for everyone. Maybe for you its painting, dancing or photography. Whatever it is- try tapping into that as a morning ritual. Take 10 to 20 minutes doing something creative that you love.
Its likely you’ll have a better day and feel a stronger sense of purpose all throughout.
Whats your favorite morning ritual? Let me know.
