Spiritual Rituals to do Before Bed
Connect to Mugwort
Mugwort is an incredibly powerful plant that deserves its own article. It’s well known for inducing lucid dreams and enhancing psychic powers, among many other things. I use mugwort almost every night before bed as a part of my spiritual practice. I take a leaf of it and connect my energy before lighting it and allowing the smoke to travel around my aura, even breathing in a breath or two of it.
I find it helps me fall asleep soundly, helps me to remember my dreams, and certainly induces vivid, lucid dreams.

To work with mugwort yourself, source some locally or you can order it online through Mountain Rose Herbs: Mugwort.
Visualization
Spend a few minutes visualizing or meditating. Visualize all of your energy from the day being grounded, releasing anything that does not serve or belong to you. If you’re a lightworker or resonate with connection to light, you can also use light visualizations to soothe your energy for the evening. I love to visualize soft, pink light emanating from my heart center and expanding throughout my body and aura.
Sole Scrub
Cleansing or scrubbing the bottom of your feet is one of the most powerful ways you can cleanse your energy and release any density from the day. Its one of my favorite rituals and always feels so sacred to me. You can do this with soap & water, smoke from an herb bundle, or my favorite way- with a salt scrub.
Prayer
I know prayer often gets associated with religion- but I’d like to dismantle that just a bit. Prayer is how we can communicate with the universe, our ancestors, our angels and our guides. Prayer is like a direct phone line to the creator- isn’t that a powerful reframe? Not that religious affiliation is a bad thing, but for those of us with religious trauma, the word can feel remnant of that.
If you can, try to release any negative stigma you may have around prayer… you do not have to associate with ANY religion, label or rules when it comes to prayer.
You can pray to express gratitude, you can pray to ask for protection, you can pray to ask for guidance, you can pray for literally anything and to whomever you’d like. Surrender whatever is weighing on your heart through the modality of prayer. Its literally ground zero when it comes to spiritual rituals.
Stretch
This one is easy to overlook, but powerful! Stretching can be a spiritual ritual that’s ideal for the evening or before bed. Its a great practice to utilize if you felt ungrounded throughout your day or are holding onto any tension. Reconnecting to our body and making it an intentional practice makes for a soothing spiritual ritual.
Conscious Breath
If you’re familiar with breathwork- there are several breathing techniques you can use as a spiritual ritual before heading to bed. I love to practice alternate nostril breathing or even just slow, deep inhales and exhales of equal length.
The breath is another powerful tool that we can use to connect spiritually and marry the mind, body, spirit.
Oils
Essential oils are a great way to support your spiritual intentions and evening rituals. I’ll share a few of my favorites here if you need some inspiration! The back of your neck, bottom of your feet, on your wrists or diffusing in your room are all good ways to use them. I’ll share some of my favorite ones that I tend to use nightly.

Supplement
Part of my evening ritual to maintain spiritual wellbeing is taking my supplements. I don’t take many, but one that I don’t like to miss is Magnesium. I love this specific one from Mother Earth Minerals, its in liquid form and I notice a huge difference when I’m taking it. I sleep deeper, the dark circles under my eyes seem to lessen, and I feel a deep sense of spiritual protection when I take it. You can find the one I take here: Mother Earth Minerals Liquid Magnesium

Prepare for the Next Day
Before bed- I like to jot down the 3 main things I want to get done the next day. I also like to write out an affirmation, or several, that state how I would like my day to go and what type of energy I’d like to experience. I also check on the astrology so that I have a good idea of what to expect. I lean on my Magic of I Astrological Planner to do all of the above. This planner is literally what dreams are made of- it has everything from monthly goal setting with the moon to astrology patterns for the day to important monthly themes and transits. I love it and will be ordering my 3rd one next year! Get yours here: Magic of I Astrological Planner
Set Healing Frequencies
I love to play healing frequencies overnight. Meditative Mind on YouTube is my go-to. They have so many to choose from, many being over 7-8 hours long so you can let it play while you sleep through the night. My go-to right now is 852hz.
Tea
Preparing and enjoying a cup of tea has been used as a spiritual ritual for ages, and one of my favorite for evening and winding down. This Third Eye Chakra Tea is one of my absolute favorites- it has herbs like spearmint and passion flower, among a few others, that work synergistically to nourish the third eye. Perfect for drifting into dreamspace.
Some other favorites of mine are these two from Pique Tea. Pique Tea is one of my all time favorite tea brands solely because of their testing process applied to all of their products. Everything is tested for heavy metals, mold and toxins that sometimes can appear in conventional teas. Their Spearmint Tea and also their Reishi Tea are great ones to enjoy in your evening ritual. You can use code BLOOM for a discount with them!
I hope you enjoyed these spiritual rituals to add to your evening routine. They bring me a lot of peace and joy, I hope they do the same for you! Do you have a favorite evening spiritual ritual? Let me know! I’d love to hear from you.
