One of my favorite spiritual practices is working with oracle cards.
When you want to connect to your intuition, find clarity on a topic, or even find guidance on your life decisions- oracle cards are such a good way to plug in.
I’ve connected with quite a few oracle card decks over the years and I don’t think I’ve ever been led to one that I didn’t like. I do definitely have some favorites though!
I’m always on the look out for new decks to add to my collection- not only for my personal use, but to use in my oracle readings with clients.
The best oracle cards are the ones that inspire you with imagery, deliver messages of clarity, and remind you of the infinite potential that you have access to.

What are Oracle Cards?
Oracle decks are sets of spiritual cards that are designed to deliver intuitive messages and insights. Unlike tarot cards, they don’t follow any specific format or structure. They’re much more free flowing and don’t require a whole lot of study to learn how to interpret them. More on the differences between tarot and oracle below.
Oracle decks tend to follow a theme, which you’ll notice when you look at the list of best oracle decks thats included below. (One of my absolute favorites is this crystal themed one).
Each deck has about 44-72 cards (really varies), with a unique message for each card. Most decks come with a guidebook you can use to read the interpretation of the card you choose.
Some of the guidebooks are so good and filled with messages that will stir your soul and light your fire! One of my top favorite oracle decks EVER is this Rumi Oracle. The messages in the guidebook are SO deep, so accurate, and so resonant with every part of my soul. For all my fellow old souls and spiritual seekers who aren’t afraid of the depths + truths, this one is for you.

How do you use Oracle Cards?
I have an entire post that explains how to use oracle cards here: How to Use Oracle Cards: Guide to Using Your New Oracle Deck
- First clear your deck and spend a moment connecting to it.
- Ground yourself in the present moment and set your intention for pulling oracle cards. (example: seeking clarity on a relationship)
- With your deck being held in both hands- bring your intention to mind and ask your deck to guide you.
- Shuffle your deck however you enjoy doing so.
- Depending on your preference- you can wait for a card to jump out while shuffling, shuffle until you intuitively feel its time to stop, or fan your card deck out and let your intuition lead you to the card for you.
- Spend some time looking at the card(s) and see what messages come to you while you observe. Jot down anything that comes to mind as you look at your card(s). Then if you’d like, read the interpretation in your oracle deck guidebook.
Oracle Cards vs Tarot Cards
Oracle cards are much more free form than tarot cards.
Tarot follows a specific structure that includes 78 cards. There’s a minor arcana and major arcana in tarot decks that you wont find in oracle decks.
In the minor arcana you’ll find 4 suits (usually pentacles, swords, cups and wands). The major arcana is a little different and contains larger archetypical themes.
Neither of these patterns show up in oracle decks… although you could argue that some oracle decks are sort of like an expanded version of the major arcana since they tend to focus on overarching themes. It really depends on the deck though.
Where to buy oracle cards?
I tend to order my oracle decks from amazon. You can check out my amazon storefront here and a bunch of the oracle decks I have and recommend.
Another place I get oracle (and tarot) cards from is Shaman’s Market. They have a lot of unique decks that can’t be found on amazon and support indigenous communities. I try to order here over amazon for ethical reasons, but it really depends on what you’re looking for in a deck.

Benefits of using Oracle Cards
There are so many benefits to using oracle cards. The main and possibly most important benefit of using oracle cards is the bridge it builds between you and your intuition. If you are just starting out with intuitive development, it can be a little confusing to decipher which messages are legitimately from your intuition, and which messages are just noise or interference from the ego.
Oracle decks are a great tool to use to get clear intuitive messages.
The best oracle cards have imagery that inspires, soothes or even reminds you of wisdom you may have repressed or ignored.
Often times the guidebooks that come with oracle cards include beautiful messages from the author that can help you understand and assign meaning to each card- from here you can begin interpreting them on your own.
Aside from the intuitive benefits, oracle cards also can act as a fun hobby or collectors item.

In no particular order, here is a magical list of the best oracle card decks I’ve come across thus far. Each of these have a unique signature to them that will definitely inspire your spiritual journey and guide you towards higher self alignment.
Rumi Oracle- Alana Fairchild
The Rumi Oracle Deck is one of my favorite decks. I use this deck when I need a deep, truthful message of guidance. I will emphasize, this deck is deep and soulful. It is an honest guide that will help validate or steer you on your path. I love that it includes writings from Rumi for each card in the guidebook, and the guidebook it self offers up some profoundly deep messages that are sure to reveal messages that resonate deep within the soul.
Keepers of the Light- Kyle Gray
Keepers of the Light was one of my very first oracle decks, if not THE first! This deck is a compilation of ascended masters and divine beings who carry messages of peace, healing and growth. The messages in its guide book are super clear and insightful. I love that the guide book gives a short history and explanation of each ascended master before sharing the meaning behind the card. This deck has helped me to identify the divine beings that I resonate with and who are often nearby guiding me.

Work Your Light- Rebecca Campbell
This deck is STUNNING. The digital art is so ethereal, mystical and captivating. The artwork itself is enough reason to get this deck, but beyond that it delivers incredible, timeless messages for the soul. Work Your Light oracle is one of the first decks I used to start interpreting the cards independently through analyzing the imagery on the cards- the imagery on this deck leaves SO much room for imagination and intuition to be activated.
Whispers of Lord Ganesha- Angela Hartfield
Inspired by Lord Ganesha, this oracle deck is light, fun, and inspiring. I also find it to be extremely validating- offering messages that help me to confirm when I’ve made the right decision or am headed on the right path. The imagery in this deck is also vibrant and gorgeous, one of my favorites to soak in. Every time I pull a card the imagery pulls me in and I’m inspired by its vibrancy.

Wisdom of Avalon- Colette Baron-Reid
One of my favorite things about this deck is the animal messengers that are included. The symbols that come through are remnant of the mystical isle of Avalon. For anyone interested in mythology, this deck is a fun one to explore. The messages are applicable/relatable but still surround the theme of Avalon- its an exciting one!
Daily Guidance from Your Angels- Doreen Virtue
So… yes Doreen Virtue has “renounced” all of her decks (we’ll leave it at that), lol, but I still have and use several of hers. No point in wasting a good deck, IMO. This one is really gentle and great for beginners. The messages are soft and uplifting, often connecting you back to your soul essence.
